Currency Hedging

Currency hedging is an insurance against large fluctuations in the exchange rate. When placing hedges, you pay, for example, your bank or another financial operator to ensure that the exchange rate of a given currency is fixed until the purchase of a product has taken place, even if the payment is made at another time.

Hedging of exchange rates may be relevant when trading with companies in countries where exchange rates fluctuate widely.
