Batch

A batch is a limited quantity of an end product, as the outcome of a production.

A batch has a batch number which enables you to track which products are used in a specific production. The batch number will often be named after the number of the production order, which is the order that dictates a production. Some also set the Best Before-date as the batch number.

A batch can become one new lot, or divided into more lots. But a lot cannot consist of more batches. A new batch will always become a new separate lot no matter the size.

Some do not distinguish between batch and lot, which in some cases can work ok. But in many cases the two are different, why it is a good idea to separate the two from the beginning.

tracezilla keeps track of both batch number and lot number for you, securing the traceability of all products you purchase, produce and sell.
